CHRISTIAN FORMATION

GRADE SCHOOL PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION (PSR)
Parish School of Religion is a program established to provide an environment in which children not attending a Catholic school may grow in their knowledge, understanding, and love of each other and their Catholic Faith. Classes for students grades 1-8 are held from 4:00-5:00 p.m. every Monday.

R.C.I.A.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process of assisting and instructing adults, both baptized and non-baptized, about the Roman Catholic faith. The pastor, deacons and members of the parish acting as a support team works with these persons until their full acceptance into the faith at the Easter Vigil Mass. The process is open to all adults of other faith traditions as well as baptized Catholics but who, because of life circumstances, were not raised in or trained in the faith. Meetings are held on Mondays each week from September through the Easter Vigil.

LITURGY OF THE WORD
Liturgy of the Word gives children the opportunity to understand the Gospel message and participate in the Eucharistic celebration at their own level. The 5-and 6-year olds come at the beginning of the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass and sit with their families in the front of Church. The children are present until the end of the Gathering Song, at which time the priest invites them to leave for their own celebration. They are brought back after the Prayers of the Faithful. (September through April)

PRAYER GROUPS
Deacon Diego Perez's Prayer Group meets every Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

SUNDAY SCHOOL
The program is designed to help young 4-year olds develop positive self-concepts. The program draws upon scriptural themes for its lesson topics and relates these to the children's everyday experience and level of understanding. The 4-year old children come at the beginning of the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass and sit with their families and are then dismissed to attend Sunday School and remain there throughout the Mass. (October through April)
